Music Therapy

We are constantly looking for ways of improving and adequately addressing arising needs. In Spring of 2017 Music Authority will offer Music Therapy by a board certified music therapist. Music Therapy is a comparatively new field which is still being explored. Music therapists concentrate in helping kids and adults with atypical behaviors such as autism, ADHA, Asperger’s syndrome, Down syndrome, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and others to successfully achieve and maintain functional adaptation through music intervention. Music therapy addresses motor planning, vestibular and proprioceptive deficits, tactile defensiveness, auditory function, audio-visual coordination, physical coordination, communication and language. Music Therapy is an approach to solving psychological and physiological problems through music and its elements. The primary goal of Music Therapy sessions is to encourage and develop a sense of self, self-initiative, social interaction, body movement coordination, task organization and overall functional adaptation to environment.
