"Greetings! We as teachers have the responsibility to instill the love of music in everybody who comes in our doors and nourish their talent. Pavel Vasilev was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and has been playing the accordion since the age of four. At age five, in Komi, Russia, Pavel started formal piano and ear training lessons. He studied at the Dobrin Petkov School, a prestigious high school of music in Bulgaira where he had the opportunity to participate in national music festivals. While in high school Pavel underwent a vigorous training in all music disciplines, including Music Theory and Harmony, Counterpoint, Music History, Orchestration, and Chamber music. In 2000, Pavel was invited to the United States to study with Lana Gore, professor of music at Wayne State University. He received a full scholarship from the Music Department of Wayne State University and graduated with the highest honors. He was awarded the Levre Scholarship and the Rotary music scholarship and has been a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, since 2004. Pavel has won accordion competitions in Bulgaria and the United States. In 1999 he ranked in the top ten at the World Cup Accordion Competition in Trossingen, Germany. In 2009 Pavel founded the Music Authority School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan and has been continuously working on creating a friendly and professional environment where kids and adults can unfold their music potential. Pavel and his professional team share the collective passion in encouraging and supporting students to excel and grow.
